Attorney Eduardo “Eddie” Cantu hit the ground running as Precinct 2 Commissioner. The precinct covers portions of the county not included within city limits, including the areas of:
He brings core values of dedication, integrity, energy, compassion and collaboration to the job and says the most important part of his job is improving the quality of life for the people who live, work and do business in Precinct 2.
Commissioner Cantu has already begun major projects in collaboration with other entities such as the MPO, municipalities, school districts and other precincts.
Quality of life projects on the Commissioner’s agenda include renovating and upgrading parks, roads, drainage and providing Boys and Girls Club-type activities to children in rural areas, said Cantu.
“Education, social fitness and other recreational activities are among the services I’d like to see implemented to benefit the children of Precinct 2,” Cantu said. “For families and adults, I’ve proposed the creation of Valley View Park and a regional hike and bike trail that would run through McAllen, Pharr and San Juan.”
